The National Trust assumed lead responsibility for the development of the new facilities at the Giant's Causeway in January 2008 and submitted a planning application in August 2008. Planning approval was granted in January 2009. The National Trust a Business Plan to NITB in December 2008. This is currently undergoing a Green Book appraisal with a decision expected in the Autumn 2009.
The National Trust anticipate starting site works in early 2010 with the new facilities being complete for spring 2012.
