Trips by Northern Ireland Residents
The value and volume of trips taken by Northern Ireland (NI) residents is measured through the Continuous Household Survey (CHS).
The survey is administered by Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency, Central Survey Unit.
The tourism module of the CHS collects details of overnight trips to UK and Republic of Ireland (RoI) destinations and day trips to NI and RoI destinations.
Annual estimates
2010/11 CHS tourism estimates
- Overnight trips April 2010 - March 2011 (PDF 18 KB)
- Tourism day trips April 2010 - March 2011 (PDF 12 KB)
Please note that the reporting methodology was reviewed during autumn 2011. Changes in the methodology regarding imputation of missing values, wrongly recorded zeros and party size adjustments have impacted on the total spend value. For this reason spend figures published in the January-September bulletin are not directly comparable to previous bulletins.
