Determination of the Appropriate Form of Support for Incentivising the Development of Renewable Electricity Generation in Northern Ireland

This report, jointly commissioned by the Department for Enterprise, Trade and Investment and the Northern Ireland Authority for Utility Regulation and produced by Cambridge Economic Policy Associates Ltd and Parsons Brinkerhoff, assesses alternative policy options for supporting renewable generation in Northern Ireland in the context of the Single Electricity Market.

CEPA PB Incentivising Renewable Electricity Generation in NI Final Report

The report, which was undertaken during 2010 following the introduction of a Feed-In Tariff in Great Britain, assesses a range of options for supporting renewable generation and identifies, through a combination of quantitative modelling and qualitative assessment, which would be expected to best facilitate the achievement of Northern Ireland’s policy goals for renewable electricity generation to 2020.
