Electricity Key Facts
Northern Ireland has three major electricity generating stations: Ballylumford Power Station, Islandmagee, Co Antrim (gas fired) (operated by AES Group); Coolkeeragh Power Station, Londonderry (oil fired) (operated by ESB International); and Kilroot Power Station, Carrickfergus, Co Antrim (dual coal/oil fired) (operated by AES Group).

There are currently around 824,000 connections to the electricity grid. Power NI (formerly NIE Energy Supply) dominates the market with around 93% of market share. The remaining connections are shared among other.
