31-10-2003 ] Consents for the Construction, Extension or Operation of a Generating Station (Article 39)

The construction, extension or operation of any generating station, the capacity of which exceeds 10 megawatts, requires the Department's consent under Article 39 of the Electricity (Northern Ireland) Order 1992. Each Article 39 application is required to be in writing and to be accompanied by a map identifying the land on which the generating station is to be constructed, extended or operated. An application fee (currently £350) is payable with the application.

Published Criteria

The Department can only grant its consent under Article 39 for the construction or extension of a generating station if it is satisfied that the proposal will meet certain criteria specified and published by it.
