The Department launched the policy consultation for the Gas Bill on 1st July 2009. The policy consultation excercise ended on 25th September 2009.
At the time of the consultation, the Department envisaged that legislation to implement its final policy would be entitled the 'Gas Bill'. It has since been decided that, because of the significance of the introduction of a special administration regime for thegas and electricity sectors, it would be more appropriate for the legislation to be called the 'Energy Bill'. References to the Bill inthis paper should therefore be read as references to an Energy Bill.
